Ice World+ Back

two childen in winter coats at Macau Ice World exhibitionVenetian's 2nd Ice World exhibition was held in the summer of 2012.  Always extremely popular with visitors, I expect there to be a 3rd one in 2013 or 14.  (Indeed there was!  For pictures, please click here: Trip Report III.)

Compared to the large ice festival held yearly in Harbin, the sculptures at the Venetian are smaller and there are less of them.  On the good side, there are far less people to navigate through, and the temperature inside the exhibition hall is far warmer than it usually is in Harbin, only -15 degrees Celsius.  Hooded coats are provided for guests so don't worry if you've come dressed in summer clothes.

According to the fact sheet, 40 artisans used chainsaws, knives and shovels to cut the 9,000 blocks of ice used to make the sculptures.
