Dark Knight 4D Ride

Both the Mavenettes and I enjoyed Studio City’s 4D Batman ride, and would recommend it to anyone visiting Macau, especially if they have children.  It’s very similar to rides in large North American amusement parks where you’re strapped onto a chair watching a huge projection screen and then move and shake along with the action.

Short and sweet – only 15 minutes long – it’s an enjoyable romp through the streets of Gotham City as you ride shotgun with Batman, who does battle with a slew of adversaries to save humanity once again.

Tickets are $100 for both adults and children, who must be at least 1.2 metres in height.  Hours are between 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm on weekdays and 11:00 am and 9:00 pm weekends.

One thing I didn’t like about the ticket is that there is no time specified on it.  No matter if you buy it in advance or not, you have to come and line up with everyone else who’s there at the time.

The Mavenettes and I were on a tight schedule and when we arrived at 5 pm on a Saturday night, the line was over an hour long.  Fortunately, tickets are also valid for the following day as well, so we decided to come back on Sunday afternoon instead.  The line was much more manageable then and we only had to wait about 15 minutes.  I’d imagine that during most weekday hours, ticket holders can just walk straight on.

Some people have criticized the ride’s short length versus ticket price, but I don’t think that $100 is a lot to spend for a quick and fun diversion in a town that definitely needs more entertainment.  Bravo to Studio City for putting this on and giving visitors to Macau more opportunities to experience a good new attraction.
